When I tried to install XP SP3 on my PC which had Alcohol 120% installed, an error was raised during the install.

According to http://support.micro...kb/884675/en-us, this is caused by Alcohol 120% locking the Atapi.sys file.

Can anyine suggest the proper solution to this? I have currently ignored the need to copy this.

Thanks

Derek J

That is an old issue. Can you please post your System Report as requested in the sticky.

First issue, you need to post a complete System Report. If you're not comfortable posting that here, you may PM it to me, or you may e-mail it to support directly and reference this thread.

Second issue, you have an ancient version that's over 4 years old, and there have been 13 updates since then. You should always run the latest version.

That's not a complete copy either, but it's ok. In any case, as I mentioned already, the solution to your problem is that you need to upgrade your version of Alcohol. This was a very old issue that was fixed many versions back. The latest version is 1.9.7.6221. Upgrade to that and your issue will be resolved.

No need to post a system report now thanks as I have located your account.

As Jito463 recommends, the locking of the ATAPI.SYS file is an issue that was solved many moons ago and the version you are using is older than those moons smile.gif

Please do as Jito463 suggests and log in to your account and download the latest retail version which has many improvements over the version you are using, including pre-mastering.
