Hi All,

It's been so long since I used Alcohol that I forgot if it even burns files to CD huh.gif . Does it? I don't see it on the menu?

Many Thanks,

Jim

Yes, Alcohol can do this. If you would like instructions on how to do so you will need to post a complete system report from within Alcohol. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

However, it it is that complicated, maybe I should use something that it doesn't take an expert to operate <smile>.

This is the only program of this sort I have ever looked into that didn't make it clear how to do it. Even the most basic program does. Some may not work too well, but it doesn't take a geek to operate them blink.gif.

Regards,

Jim

I think what bugged me is I figured Alcohol either will or won't copy files from my HD to a CD? Am I wrong?

Are you saying "maybe it will and maybe it won't, depending on your system"? If that's the case, you may need the requested info and I'll be happy to send it. If not, then you don't need it.

That should answer your questions:

Alcohol needs to make a disc image of the files(s) you want to burn to the disc first. This differs from Nero where you can burn to disc without making an image of the files(s).

Alcohol provides you with the Xtra Wizard to make the image. You can read about how to use the Xtra Wizard here: http://support.alcoh...age compilation

Once you have the image, it's just a matter of burning the image as you would any other.

Thanks a lot.

I still have a question, tho: Why was it necessary for me to post files to the forum to be told what you just told me?

Regards,

Jim

It is the forum rules. If you're asking how to do something (other than installing) then it's deemed a Technical Question and as per http://forum.alcohol...showtopic=23848 a system report is required.

Well, it's a stupid requiremen if it's "required" for every single question. And the folks who require it don't allow anyone to exercise any common sense. It's akin to a cop pulling you over for doing 55.6 in a 55 mile zone. It's the law!! Well, it a stupid action, too.

I'm still ticked at myself for giving in to such a stupid thing, knowing that it had absolutely nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

Maybe the application is just as ridiculously programmed. There's just too many others available that will do the job.

Seriously submitted,

Jim

The System Report is Mandatory as stated before and can be used by support members to isolate issues other than an illegal version of our software, WHICH we do not provide support for and refuse to waste any time with.

Regardless of what you think, those are the rules of the forum. If you chose not to follow those rules, so beit, however you will not be able to obtain support for the trial version.
