I'd like to make an image of my Jedi Academy CD #1 so that I can play it on my computer without the CD. I'll be going to college soon, and I dont want to take my CD with me. I have downloaded the trial version of Alcohol 120%, and I have Daemon Tools Lite. I know that Jedi Academy is protected by Securom 4.84.84.0020. I honestly know very little about doing this type of thing, so please try to explain in "idiot" terms. I have tried running the Image Making Wizard with Datatype Securom, and then I mount the image with Daemon Tools, but then I cannot play the game because it tells me I must insert the CD. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it must be something! Any help would be appreciated with this!

Try using the Securom New (4/5/7) Datatype and install from Virtual Drive, if the Emulation message appears try using Acid to cloak the Virtual Drives.

If you get a "Plaese insert the original disk instead of a backup" message then your image isn't good enough, try making it with different DPM speed (for CDs the recomented is the lowest possible one).

I did everything mentioned here, plus I made sure to clean my CD, and it worked for me. Thanks for the help!

One more question: Will I be able to mount the image file I created with Alcohol 120% onto a Virtual Drive with the free edition of Alcohol 52%?

Do mount the Image with Alcohol's virtual drive. Install the game from that virtual drive. And if all that doesn't help, try the through the EDM system do disable all your drives (except the virtual one).
