I love alcohol and don't have any complaints.
I just have an image that's img and it's not listed as a type supported for mounting, but when I click all files and pick my img file it mounts it just fine and everything works good.

when I try to burn the img file it gives me an error. I mount the img and copy it into another format and then have to burn it. It's not such a big deal, but would save a lot of time if I could just burn this image.

Img is used by clonecd (ccd). Why are you missing the main ccd. I hope you've not downloaded some warez image. Besides being illegal, these images are almost never 1:1 copies and are many times errored. You therefore won't get any support from this board if it is an illegal copy.

I'm offended you are even suggesting that I am using something illegal. Why is it that if I need to burn some image it has to be illegal. If you must know, it's a distro of linux that was developed by a small group and hasn't been public yet. A friend of mine who is working on the team sent it to me. I have no clue why it was only an img file, but I'm shocked that you accuse somebody of something without knowing about anything.

most likely, they are only 1.4megs

bad example:
here you go a 600meg file from mandrake

ftp://ftp.mklinux.org/pub/cdimages/maindisk.img

my point is that img is well used in linux. Regardless of what Andareed thanks

My apoligies to you smile.gif I just replied to two other topics that seemed border line illegal. I just realized that msdn is on .img too. But they are really .iso i think. Mounts with alcohol fine.

The image mounted perfectly, but I had to use the image making wizard to create another image so that I can burn the image. Since I'm trying to burn an OS to install on another drive the mounting feature is only helpful for me to convert it to another format. It's not such a big deal, but every week I'm going to be recieving these images and I have to burn these to a CDR. It would just save me time if I was able to burn the img file instead of having to convert it each time. But I guess since I'm the first person to request something like this, and it's not that common of a format with windows that I'll either have to convert it or ask them if they could make an ISO format image of it. I was told that their compiler creates an img file and it would take more time for them to put it into any other format. So most likely I'll be doing the extra 5-10 minutes converting each week instead of them.

I think Microsoft have their own application to create images, but that's not important...

WTF are all you people talking about?
.img is an image format supported my Stomp RecordNow Max. Like whoda says, Alcohol will mount these images, but it gives an error when you try to burn them. If Alcohol could only correctly support .img files and .gi files, the world would be perfect.

Oh, and whoda, if you ever need to burn this type of file in the future, get Stomp RecordNow Max.

To burn MSDN Library images (qtr40enud1.img, qtr40enud2.img and qtr40enud3.img) I only renamed .img extension to .iso. Alcohol burned perfectly!
