BUG: Delete Image File

Operating system is Windows XP Professional SP3.

Options, General. Delete image file directly is the default setting of Unchecked.

Deleting a 6gb image file with the Delete Image Files command sends the .mds file to the Recycle Bin, but deletes the actual .mdf file.

Both files should be sent to the Recycle Bin.

Free space on drive after deletion is 17.5gb.

It's not a bug, in Alcohol or Windows. Your MDF file obviously exceeded the capacity of your recycle bin. Check your settings on your recycle bin.

In this scenario, Windows Explorer would throw up a warning dog Can't send to Recycle Bin, will Delete. Shouldn't Alcohol do the same? For consistency!

This also is supposed to be done by Windows. Please check your recycle bin settings

Hmm, that is strange. As Charalambos stated, Windows should have popped up an error message asking you to proceed with deletion. Perhaps there is something occuring in the transfer between Alcohol and the Recycle Bin that is suppressing this message.

Recycle Bin settings are
Global
- use one setting for all drives
- 10% Max size of Recycle Bin (percent of each drive)
- Display delete confirmation dialog is checked / ticked
DSK2_VOL5 (M:)
- size of drive 222gb
- space reserved 3.99gb

Settings explain why file was deleted, but there should have been a Delete Confirmation dog.

Deleted more than file, to confirm behaviour of Alcohol.

Regards,
John

I get a delete confirmation dialog box when deleting images.

However I have added a thread in our customer section of the forum in Development Suggestions For Future Version that reads:

QUOTE
A dialog box asking for confirmation / warning when the image size is too large to fit in to the recycle bin when deleting the image.

As each system is different Alcohol would have to calculate how big each person's recycle bin is each time an image is deleted. To me this is an additional feature and not really a bug.
