The cheapest I have seen them for were about $8 a disc in bulk. But I agree that is a bit expensive. I will stick with my AnyDVD and CloneDVD with DVDr 4.3 gig discs........... Personally I can not see the difference in quality.......

Well, i cant see an "overall" quality loss but when i did lotr 3 I did notice a few scenes with major pixilation

Somethings amiss, check your system resources, no probs here with lotr3. I even converted it to xvid. Lotr3=900mb, very very close to DVD 4.7g quality. (on standard definition TV)

Thats a contradiction in terms much like "military intelligence". With the rest of the rig like it is, treat yourself to a nice high powered CPU.

That chip isnt the best I will say that only reason I know My wife had one in her PC but it did run games just fine. Keep in mind I had it OC'ed to 3.0 EASY.

I know but i cant get a new mobo to fit this case that would keep everything 1:1 and bottleneck free..... and its even more insane how fast the ram is rather then how much of it there is. The ati is nice and does perfrom well despite the cpu and I did OC it up as far as 2.8 but it began to overheat.

2006, 1 year later...

hd, MIA.
BR... MIA stateside and obcenely expensive....

And sadly still, digital cable and digi-sat is still sub bar for HD content. HD tv's are still 600$+ for decent models and we have a format war ala vhs-betamax. and lastly we *still* have to deal with the fact that HDMI may be used to prevent any copies or backups of either format from playing or playing at reduced quality.

@ 2.5$ per disk, DL is making a great alternative as long as the burner isnt crap.

i stand by my prediction still, even with "sales" in the us possiblt taking place this year it will still be mid 2007 or early 2008 before either format wins, and a standard is declared. and this is only possible after there is a major adoption from the public with cheap 1080i, 740p, dlp sets costing 200-400$ and cable providers selling hd content for less than 60$ a months...
