when you request a new account, you get sent a validation link.

 

How about you send this link as  https instead of http

 

It saves the browser alert messages

I don't know if the forums software supports this (I am a volunteer myself).

You should be able to manually change the url to https, we are working to fully implement https for our site but in part it is already working.
