Hi,

I'm ripping some PS2 games with some errors and I have some doubts regarding this tool.

Does Advanced Sector Scanner do the same thing that if I just let the tool skip error one by one? Righ now I'm using a factor of 48 every 8 errors. Could be possible that in that factor some good sectors or data is categorized as bad and not read-written in the final image?

Thanks.

Advanced sector scanner is for some particular copy protections like Laserlock and is not to be used for the PS2 games, just use the default datatype options.

I made some test both with ASS and Skipping errors one by one and it seems the same. At least in the emulator both work but as I said, I don't know if internally the data is the same in both cases.

Just don't use ASS without reason, it may make some difference if it is unnecessarily used.

I'll do that then. Also, is there any documentation on those differences so I can inform myself? The problem with not using ASS is that a rip takes like a whole day or two haha.

Thanks for your help.

From Alcohol's help file (you can find it in the forum in the Downloads section):

Advanced Sector Scanning: Skips large blocks of errors, boosting overall reading speed.

This is what it does as you noticed, you can use it if it helps you, it will probably make no difference but in case that one image doesn't work try to make it again without it.
