I installed the trial of Alcohol 52, and my optical drive immediately quit reading. It shows up under drives, and will open and close, but will not read any discs.

I had been using it minutes prior to installation, on a Windows boot that was installed yesterday, so I know its nothing else that caused it. Ive restarted several times, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried with Alcohol on and off.

I dont understand why this software would completely stop my drive from reading. Any ideas how to fix it?

This is really weird. Have you tried uninstalling Alcohol? If your drive still doesn't work try to uninstall the SPTD driver with its standalone installer/uninstaller from www.duplexsecure.com.
